Secure In Christ

“Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all of them have been gathered together, and they are come in You. I live, says YHWH, Truly You have clothed Yourself with them all, as with an ornament, and You have fixed them in you, as a bride” Isaiah 49:18 English Literal Translation.

Who has gathered “all of them” in Himself? Who has clothed Himself with God’s people?

Jesus the Messiah.

This was accomplished in His finished work.
He is now your heavenly Husband, Who spoke through Isaiah. Saying,

“I greatly rejoice in YHWH, My soul exults in My God, For He has clothed Me with the garments of salvation, With the robe of righteousness He covered Me, As a bridegroom decorates Himself in ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels” Isaiah 61:10 ELT.

In Isaiah God declares that He would make His Son our husband and Head. This was accomplished when you were raised up together with Him in His Resurrection. Now He has gathered you into a marriage union in His own perfect righteousness. This is the manner in which you are loved by God.

“Fear not, for you are not ashamed, do not blush, for you art not confounded, For the shame of your youth is forgotten, And the reproach of your widowhood remember no more. For Your Maker is your Husband, YHWH of Hosts is His name, And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, ‘God of all the earth,’ He is called. For, as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit. YHWH has called you, Even a youthful wife when she is refused, said your God. In a small moment I forsook you, And in great mercies I have gathered you, In overflowing wrath I hid my face for a moment from you, And in a kindness enduring forever I have loved you, So says your Redeemer—YHWH!” Isaiah 54:4-8 ELT.

In the cross we all were gathered together where He said “In overflowing wrath I hid my face for a moment from you.” In His death was when He “forsook you” in the “small moment.” And because “it is finished” He will never leave or forsake you again. It was in His Resurrection that the words “in great mercies I have gathered you. And in a kindness enduring forever I have loved you.” This love is with you now by His Spirit. In His Resurrection all believers have been gathered into this Marriage union whether they know it or not. This is for you. This union is fulfilled, it is eternal. Christ our Husband is the The Head; The Church is now His Body.

“Therefore, my brothers, you also have been made dead to the law by the body of Christ; so That you belong to another, to Him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” (Rom. 7:4)
This spiritual Marriage union was also illustrated in the clothing of the high priest in the days of Moses. Aaron’s clothes were a prophetic parable teaching us about a coming relationship with God through our Resurrected Savior. The significance of the High priest’s ephod previewed our New Covenant union within our heavenly Great High Priest. It was a parable commanded by God pointing to the coming of Jesus and the New Covenant union. His image shows a relationship of pure grace and Divine Love where the man of sin, Adam, has been so far removed from God’s sight that no man except Jesus ministers in God’s house. It is an eternal relationship showing how the kingdom of Israel was a testimony fulfilled in the Body of Christ. In His view the Church is the true city of God and the expression of His heart and Word. The image that God was depicting, when seen by the eyes of the Spirit, shows us how Jesus has clothed Himself with all of God’s people, who are, to Him, more precious than costly jewels. And as you look on  these “garments of salvation,” Is. 61:10, let the Spirit encourage your soul in all the ways you are securely fastened and fixed within God’s Grace. And may your heart find rest and comfort within the breast pocket of judgement, seeing that these are the same living stones that are built up together into the heavenly New Jerusalem.

Why? What does it mean?

It means that all who have come to rest in this secret place of the Most High, in Christ Jesus, have already come to Zion, the heavenly New Jerusalem, They are the Wife of the Lamb. There is no future event that has yet to take place before the marriage of the Lamb is come. In Him, You are already seated in the heavens reclining at the table, enjoying, even feasting, at the the marriage supper of the Lamb.

“He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved, and raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” Eph. 2:5-6.

None of this was postponed until the afterlife, or until God can perform some other miracle. It is now IN Christ. May He grant you favor to see the One He sees. It is a breath taking panoramic sight wherein all His people are clothed with the beauty and glory of Jesus Christ in God’s own sight. It is written:

2“You make holy coverings for your brother Aaron, for beauty and for glory. 3 So you speak to all the wise-hearted whom I have filled with the Spirit of wisdom; and they make the coverings of Aaron to sanctify him for his serving as priest to Me.
4 And these are the garments which they make:
A breast pocket, and an ephod, and a robe, and an embroidered coat, a crown, and a girdle. And they make holy garments for your brother Aaron and for his sons, even for him to serve as priest to Me. 5 And they take the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the crimson, and the bleached linen. 6 And they make the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, crimson and bleached, twined linen, skilled work. 7 It has two shoulder pieces at its two ends; and it is joined together.
8 And the band of the ephod which is on it, is like its work, gold, blue, and purple, and crimson, and bleached, twined linen. 9 And you take two onyx stones; and you engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel. 10 Six of their names on the one stone, and six of the remaining names on the second stone, according to their birth. 11 You engrave the two stones, the work of a stone engraver, the engravings of a signet, according to the names of the sons of Israel; you make fastenings in a work of gold. 12 And you affix the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And Aaron carries their names before the presence of YHWH, on his two shoulders for a premorial.
13 And you make of gold settings:
14 and two chains of pure gold, you make them entwined, a work of cord; and you place chains of the cords on the plated work.
15 And you make a breast pocket of judgment, skilled work, like the work of the ephod you make it: gold, blue, and purple, and crimson, and bleached, twined linen you make it. 16 It is square, being doubled, its length a span and its width a span.
17 And you have fixed in it settings of stones, four rows of stones: a row of ruby, topaz, and carbuncle shall be the first row. 18 And the second row: emerald, sapphire and diamond. 19 And the third row: jacinth, agate and amethyst. 20 And the fourth row: chrysolite, onyx and jasper. They are plaited with gold in their settings.
21 And the stones are according to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, the engraving of a signet; they are each according to his name for the twelve tribes.
22 And you make chains of woven work on the breast pocket, a work of cords, in pure gold.
23 And you make two rings of gold on the breast pocket.
24 And you join the two rings on the two ends of the breast pocket. And you fasten the two cords of gold on the two rings, at the end of the breast pocket. 26 And you weld the two ends of the two cords on the two plates. And you affix them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, to the front of it. 27 And you make two rings of gold, and you weld them on the two ends of the breast pocket, on its edge, inward across from the ephod.  And you make two rings of gold, and you weld them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, from beneath, at its front, near its joining, above the band of the ephod.  28 And they bind the breast pocket from its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue ribbon, to be above the band; and the breast pocket may never move itself from the ephod.
29 And Aaron has borne the names of the sons of Israel on the breast pocket of judgment on his heart, in his going into the holy place, for a premorial before the presence of YHWH continually.
30 And you put the Urim and the Thummim into the breast pocket of judgment; and they are on the heart of Aaron in his going before the presence of YHWH. And Aaron has borne the judgment of the sons of Israel on his heart before the presence of YHWH continually. 31 And you make the robe of the ephod all of blue. 32 And the mouth in its top is in its middle; a binding is all around its mouth, of woven work; it is like the mouth of a corselet; it is not to be torn. 33 And you make pomegranates of blue and purple and crimson on its hem, all around on its hem; also bells of gold are among them all around: 34 a bell of gold and a pomegranate; a bell of gold and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all around.
35 And it is on Aaron for ministering; and its music is heard in his going into the sanctuary before the presence of YHWH, and in his coming out, that he should not die.
36 And you make a blossom of pure gold. And you shall engrave on it the engravings of a signet: ‘HOLINESS TO YHWH’.
37 And you put a ribbon of blue on it, and it shall be on the crown, to the front of the diadem.
And it is on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the holy things which will sanctify the sons of Israel to all their holy gifts. 38 And it is on his forehead continually, that they are accepted before the presence of YHWH.
39 And you weave the coat of bleached linen, and you make a crown of bleached linen, and you make a girdle, the work of an embroiderer. 40 And you make the coat for the sons of Aaron; and you shall make girdles for them; and you make crowns for them, for glory and for beauty.
41 And you clothe your brother Aaron with them, and his sons with him; and you anoint them, and you consecrate them, and you sanctify them. And they minister as priests to Me. 42 And make bleached linen shorts for them, to cover the naked flesh, from the loins as far as the thighs are.
43 And they are on Aaron and on his sons in their going into the tabernacle of the congregation, or in their drawing near to the altar to minister in the sanctuary, and so that they do not raise up iniquity and die. It is a perpetual statute to him and to his seed after him. Ex. 28:2-43 ELT.

How does God see you?

He sees you in His Son.

Jesus is your Head. You are One in Him, just as He is One with His Father. He is your identity in the presence of God. You are His Body. You are not known by the identity of your flesh. You are known by Him. The Resurrection was the answer to this prayer,

“That they may all be One, just as You, Father, are in Me, and I in you, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. The glory that You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be One even as We are One” Jn. 17:21-22.

Jesus is now the holiness and identity of His Body the Church. He is your acceptance with God.

“And He is the Head of the body—the Church—Who is the beginning, the first-born out from among the dead, that He might be in all things —Himself—having been first from before all. Col. 1:18 ELT.

“Now you are the body of Christ and members of Him in part.” 1 Cor. 12:27 ELT.

When Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians He shared from this same heavenly view of the marriage union in our High Priest. When he says “You are accepted in the beloved” Eph. 1:6. He is describing this Divine union as a relationship of pure Grace. And it is a description in accord with: “‘Holiness to YHWH’ shall continually be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before YHWH” Ex. 28:38. Paul was showing us the same Jesus as Moses wrote of because all Israel was depicted in the body and their holiness was seen in their head.

Holiness in God’s understanding is not your behavior or a lifestyle. True holiness is in a place where you abide by faith. It is in a Person. And it is a true relationship in Him. Holiness to YHWH is not about man’s impersonation of Jesus. Holiness as it is to YHWH is all about abiding in the One Who is Holy and bearing true fruit out from a relationship of union.  The need for this distinction comes from our ignorance of this union in Christ. And the insistence of being known by our own individual holiness is a rejection of being gathered IN Christ.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those sent to her. How often I desired to gather your children in the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings! And you would not be gathered” Mt. 23:37 ELT.

The New Testament tells us that we are “in Christ” more than two hundred different ways. And yet there is a great blindness among God’s people concerning what it means to be gathered up and known by God in His identity, under His crowned head.

Most translations read “miter” which is considered a kind of hat denoting authority. And though some may dispute whether it was a crown, or not, it was made to bear the appearance of a crown in the traditional form. In the way that a crown has a similar form with flower or blossom. One of the Hebrew words describing his crown is actually a word for describing a blossom. Youngs Literal Translation reads: “And thou hast made a flower of pure gold, and hast opened on it—openings of a signet—’Holy to Jehovah” Ex. 28:336-37 YLT.

This crown pointed toward the coming of the One Who would be both King and Priest. God had long ago declared the coming of the end of Aaron’s priesthood through Samuel in the days of Eli.

“I said indeed that your house and your father’s house should walk before Me. But now YHWH says, Far be it from Me! For those who honor Me, I will honor; and those despising Me will be despised. Behold, days come when I shall cut off your arms, and the arms of your father’s house,” 1 Sam. 2:30-31

Eli’s father was Aaron. The coming of Jesus as both the true High priest and King was the fulfillment of Aaron’s priesthood and established in the order of Melchizedek (a priesthood of Gentile nations, more ancient than Israel). But the order of Melchizedek is not priesthood of men. And in Ezekiel we are told plainly that the authority represented by both the miter and crown can truly only belong to the Messiah.

“Remove the miter and take off the crown. Things shall not remain not as they are. Exalt that which is low, and bring low that which is exalted. A ruin, ruin, RUIN will I make it. This also shall not be, until He comes, the One to Whom judgment belongs, and I will give it to Him,” Ezekiel 21:26-27 ELT.

And so Jesus came and was clothed in these “garments of Salvation” since they have always belonged to Him. But He did more than go into holy rooms in symbolic natural tabernacles, into clouds of incense, He ascended into the clouds of heaven and sat down in the throne of God. His own throne. And He has carried you there just as He said.. “I am coming again and will receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” Jn. 14:3. You are now represented there in Him in this throne of grace. And you cannot be “torn” from Him.

“The mouth in its top is in its middle; a binding is all around its mouth, of woven work; it is like the mouth of a corselet; it shall not be torn” Ex. 28:32.

It is amazing to me that Caiaphas’ own unbelief caused him to break the Law of Moses tearing the garments disqualifying himself from his High priestly office while accusing Jesus face to face.

“By the living God, You tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God.  Jesus said to him, You have said it. I tell you more. From Now on you shall see the Son of Man seated in the right hand of God, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest tore his garments, saying, He blasphemed! Mt. 26:63-65 ELT See also Ps. 110:1, Daniel 7:13.

The Days of symbolism and testimony had come to their end and the reality of the Day of Atonement began. It is the Day of Christ.

This is the New Covenant Day.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand” Jn. 10:27-29 ESV.
