To me, to Live is Christ

“For to me, to live is Christ,
and to die is gain” Php. 1:21.

Notice the first “to” in this sentence. Paul is simply saying, my understanding of Life is “not I, but Christ living in me” Gal. 2:20.

It is often said “for me to live is Christ, even though my living instead of Him is is the opposite of Paul’s meaning.

Who are you seeing as the object of the Gospel?

Is it you, or is it Christ?

It is just not about you.

“Fear not, nor be afraid, Have I not from that time caused you to hear, and declared? And you are My witnesses, Is there a God besides Me?
Yea, there is no (other) Rock
I have known
Framers of graven images are all of them emptiness, And their desirable things do not profit, And they are witnesses of their own. they see not, nor know, that they may be ashamed.” Isaiah 44:8-9

Yahweh is contrasting the witnesses of God from those who are witnesses of themselves. His witnesses are hearts being brought into the Fathers view of His Son. But witnessing our own works and our own glory is a blindness that is the same as idolatry: The works of our own hands.

So great is the freedom of beholding Jesus!

In eating of the knowledge of good and evil Adam and Eve’s focus fell to their flesh. They became disturbed with their own condition and nakedness.
This separation of fellowship from the presence of God is a death that entered into all men through Adam.

To be carnally minded is death” Rom. 8:6.

What was the effect on Moses when he saw the Great I AM?

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two stones in his hand, he was not conscious that his face was shining because of his talk with God” Ex. 34:29 BBE.

He was delivered from a death of self consciousness. Paul is sighting this as a testimony of the liberty we have in the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor. 3:17-18.

I beg you to stop and read the whole third chapter of Second Corinthians. See what The Spirit is saying to the Church. He was saying, in beholding the glory of Jesus Christ you are transformed and translated, out of the first glory, which was only the testimony of Christ, into the New Covenant Glory of knowing Christ in you as the substance of every thing ever promised of God.

Knowing Jesus is the ONE thing you are called to.

His true sheep rest in this liberty from both sin and self consciousness.

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Mt. 25:37-40

In Him we are self aware no more, we are knowing Him as All and in all.
