The Eternal Gospel

“I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the Eternal Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” Revelation 14: 6.

What is the “Eternal Gospel”? It is the Father’s own declaration of Himself. It is not the testimony or witness of men. There are many religious messages that have origins in flesh and blood, but the “Eternal Gospel” is the Father’s revelation of Himself. It is written across creation. It is painted by the lives and journeys of the people of God. It was portrayed in the men and women of Israel. It sings out from the depths their calamity and pours down from of the fullness of their comfort. It is the promise of His Son woven into dry commandments and rituals of Law. It is YHWH making Himself known by the Spirit of His Son.

When the writer of Hebrews describes the Gospel he is not merely describing a salvation message, but God’s own witness of the coming of His kingdom; a Kingdom where His Spirit and Life invade the darkness of this earth, rescuing the lost, and filling souls with the warmth of His love and the light of His glory. Believers today often minimize types and shadows in the Hebrew scriptures as if they are only strange coincidence, but the Spirit declares these prophecies to be the eternal Gospel.

“We have had the gospel preached to us, even as they also; but the word did not profit those hearing it, not having been mixed with faith in the ones who heard” Hebrews 4:2.

We are told that the Gospel came to God’s people while they were in Egypt. They had seen the great judgement of plagues on their enemies, culminating in the death of a lamb. They tasted this lamb, absorbing His flesh within. They colored their doors red with His blood, and entered within through the door of His cross. They did abide within this death until the break of dawn. They were buried deep within waters. And as they walked entranced by a Red Sea standing up like a wall, they were covered with grace, the grace of the testimony of Jesus. And yet they were blind to the promise of this Son, and deaf to the chorus of His voice. Except for Joshua and Caleb, that first generation did not except YHWH’s gospel. Mathew was not the writer, nor Mark the author, neither Luke the penman, but within the obedience of their sojourning, the Gospel of Christ was preached to them by God Himself.

The Gospel is “eternal” in that it is the same yesterday today and forever. It is as constant as Who He is. Though seeing Him requires a miracle, Yeshua the Messiah looms large in the foreground of God’s canvas from beginning to end. Not once has the Father had another view, another way or another goal. In eternal reality, He has only cut one covenant. Yeshua came as the tangible image of His invisible Father. Even in the day of the Old Covenant, it was only an older testimony of Him.

“All the prophets and the law prophesied until John” Mt 11:13.

Every jot and tittle prophesied of the coming of the Spirit of Jesus Christ in His people as their resurrection Life. Even if many lack light in seeing this cord intertwined within the testimony, Even thought His face was concealed secret, There are some in whom the mystery is unfolding by the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

“Now to Him Who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began, but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the eternal God, for obedience to the faith” Rom. 14:24-26.

There are many who would have us believe that YHWH changes. That He was once a wrathful perfectionist who has been pacified by the blood of His own Son. Many compartmentalize God in a way where they imagine the Father is the angry God of the Old Testament and in the New Testament His Son has saved you from His Fathers wrath. They teach that this present age is a temporary dispensation of grace. And that the work of Christ has only bought us a respite from the wrath of this temperamental god. To them grace is not an eternal relationship but only a safe space that will one day be destroyed in the end of the world. But this is not the God of the Bible. It is a false god and a false gospel. These messages have their origin in the darkened understanding of men.

In Truth, the God of Justice is One and the same God as the God of Mercy. His Name is YHWH. And He is Love, Light, and kindness itself. And He has been the same from the foundation of the world.

He is the God of eternal Grace, and eternal Fellowship.

He is a God who died for you and as you. And He has always planned to. He has patiently and meticulously declared His purpose from the foundation of the world. He has had His people document this in scripture. His steadfastness is the foundation of truth and reality. His unchangeable Life effects all who come to Him with a constancy and certainty that provides rest and peace.

He is security. He is stability. He is faithfulness

He is our Rock.

So David sang,

“I love you, O YHWH my strength. YHWH is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge” Psalm 18:1-2.
